Honoring The LGBTQ+ Community In Cannabis Drinks Industry

Here some amazing cannabis-infused drinks brands which are owned by the LGBTQ+ community. Let’s celebrate the pride

Pride should not be confined to a single month, and neither should your cannabis consumption. Both should be supported, advocated for, and celebrated throughout the year.

The queer community's involvement in cannabis dates back to the start of marijuana's long, strange journey to legalization. The cannabis legalization movement in the United States owes its origins to the efforts of our LGBTQ forefathers during the HIV/AIDS epidemic of the 1980s and 1990s.

While the LGBTQ flag-themed products caught eyes in the market but more amazing thing is that we have this pride month. Support these cannabis brands founded by LGBTQ people, whose history of tireless cannabis activism has allowed for the existence of the legal market we have today.

In honor of the LGBTQ community's contributions to cannabis commerce and culture, here's a look at some of the LGBTQ-owned Cannabis-infused drink brands.

House of Saka

Cynthia Salarizadeh, a cannabis industry insider, and Tracey Mason, a wine industry veteran, founded House of Saka in 2018 with the goal of creating the world's first line of luxury, cannabis-infused products made by and for women. Discovering a shared passion for wine, beauty products, and the limitless properties of the sacred cannabis plant, the pair assembled an unrivaled group of powerful females from the cannabis and wine industries to help bring their mission to life and provide a foundation for it to thrive.

Cann

Cann, one of the country's best-selling cannabis beverages, sells a six-pack for around $20. That is an exorbitant price given that a case contains only 12 mg of THC and 24 mg of CBD, a non-psychoactive cannabinoid.

Since its launch in May 2020, the cannabis-infused drink company Cann has sold 150,000 cans of its THC and CBD-infused, alcohol-free intoxicants, in a sign of success that’s bucking current industry trends.

On its way to that milestone, the company has sold out multiple times as it wrestled with manufacturing facilities that simply couldn’t keep up with demand, according to the company’s co-founders, Luke Anderson and Jake Bullock.

Calexo

Brandon and Ken, two late-blooming cannabis users, came up with the idea for Calexo in 2018. The alchemy began one evening in Ken's kitchen, while his family was over for dinner. Because some of the guests were sensitive to the smell of cannabis, the two sought a way to get high while remaining polite. They experimented with a cannabis-oil tincture and a variety of mixers, looking for the perfect balance of bitter and citrus to sip.

They drank a sip. They raised their brows and smiled. Calexo was conceived.

They spent the rest of the evening laughing and talking with Ken's family while everyone sipped on a drink. Wine and beer for some; a Calexo for Ken. They looked at each other and recognized each other because they were not being shunned for using cannabis. They had discovered a new way for people to feel good socializing that did not involve alcohol. Brandon, a cancer survivor with an extra-vulnerable liver, knew how important this was. Ken and Brandon knew they'd discovered something special and wanted to share Calexo with the rest of the world. They formed a Voltron-style team, recruiting fellow artist and lifelong friend Ian, as well as financial sorceress Aiko. It was time to reclaim happy hour.

Since then, this group of problem solvers has been inspired to share with the world a new type of cannabis experience: a social drink that fits in at cocktail parties, beach days, and intimate gatherings. A low-calorie alcohol substitute that is intended to delight the senses, shift perspectives and inspire celebration. To put it simply: a wonderful sophisticated fizzy beverage.

Calexo, in the end, is a vehicle for spreading joy and kindness. They care about people–as well as the planet we share. Calexo promotes body control and choice in our experiences. Their values compel them to increase the representation of marginalized groups. To honor the various forms of self-expression. We want to do good for the world and hope to collaborate with interested allies along the way.
